TJC was asked to design 50,000 square foot of new speculative office space in a commercial/industrial zone at 950 Blanco Road in Salinas, California. Because there were few surrounding buildings of architectural merit, the owner asked that the new design make a bold statement, to be distinguished from the generic "concrete tilt-up" offices along US 101. Carleton worked with the owner's concepts to reinterpret the Arts and Crafts style with plaster and stone walls, tile roofing, and single-hung windows. He segmented the long, low building into a series of vertical towers and office bays with the main entrance at the center of the plan. Before the construction of the shell was completed, Fresh Express Inc. leased the entire building.
